Man Utd Transfer News Today: Trent Alexander-Arnold wanted as talks accelerate
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Trent Alexander-Arnold and Gabriel Veneno.
Trent Alexander-Arnold wanted
Man Utd are preparing an opening offer worth €50 million for Real Madrid superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.
The England defender has struggled since his arrival at the Bernabeu from Liverpool and he has already been tipped to return to the Premier League this summer.
Manchester City have been linked with a sensational move, while Man Utd are now reportedly ready to test Real Madrid’s resolve with an official bid as they continue their pursuit for a new right-back.
However, Los Blancos currently have no intention of sanctioning a sale and a summer move to Old Trafford is therefore extremely unlikely.
Gabriel Veneno talks accelerated
Man Utd have accelerated their pursuit of Atletico Mineiro wonderkid Gabriel Veneno as they look to finalise an agreement to bring him to Old Trafford.
The Brazilian teenager is being closely watched by a number of top European clubs and Man Utd are among the teams tracking him ahead of a potential swoop.
That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Man Utd officials are already in talks with intermediaries over a deal for a player they believe is a generational talent.
Jadon Sancho update
Borussia Dortmund are ready to submit an offer to re-sign Jadon Sancho this summer, as per TEAMtalk.
The Man Utd winger is currently on loan at Aston Villa and a permanent move to Unai Emery’s side is expected to be discussed when the 2025-26 season ends.
However, Dortmund are also reportedly interested in landing the Englishman for a third time, with the club ready to engage in negotiations over a Bosman deal when Sancho’s contract at Man Utd expires in July.
Midfield wishlist revealed
Man Utd have reportedly whittled their midfield shortlist down to five names for the summer.
Revamping the midfield is the Red Devils' main priority for 2026, regardless of who will take charge of the first team on a permanent basis after this season. With Casemiro having already announced his departure and Manuel Ugarte likely to depart too, Man Utd will look to add at least two midfielders.
Financial constraints could mean that Man Utd opt to either bring in one marquee name and a rotation option, or whichever of their top targets are the cheapest. According to Ben Jacobs, INEOS appear to have zeroed in on five names.
“About two months ago, there were eight to 12 names under discussion, but now it feels like Man Utd have narrowed the list to Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, and possibly Angelo Stiller and Sandro Tonali," he told The United Stand.
“Other options could still emerge, but if United were to land their ideal midfield pairing, it would likely be two from that group. That said, they could miss out and need to turn to alternative targets."
Nathaniel Brown latest
Eintracht Frankfurt star Nathaniel Brown may not be as expensive as expected this summer, but Man Utd will be rivalled by Arsenal, Liverpool and more clubs for his signature.
The 22-year-old has been a standout performer in a struggling Eintracht Frankfurt team this season, scoring three goals and providing six assists from his left wing-back position.
In fact, Sky Germany previously claimed that it is already "100% confirmed" that Brown will leave Frankfurt this summer for a fee in the region of €70 million.
However, BILD asserts that Brown may not cost upwards of €70m, but that he could instead be signed for around €65m or potentially even less. This, it is claimed, is due to Frankfurt needing to sell.
