Christian Pulisic is frustrated with AC Milan's lack of urgency in getting a new contract sorted amid claims that Arsenal are interested in swooping for the American.

The USMNT captain was one of the standout performers in Serie A in the early stages of the season. Pulisic netted four goals and two assists in his first six league games of the new campaign, but his form was interrupted by a hamstring injury.

His early-season exploits gave rise to reports that AC Milan were looking to tie the attacker down to a new contract and that the 27-year-old had agreed to extend his time in Lombardy.

Since then, however, precious little has developed on that front, and it has coincided with a drop in form. After his return from injury, Pulisic initially kept scoring, but he has now been goalless since December and is again struggling for fitness.

As a result, rumours in Italy now cast doubt on his long-term future at AC Milan and posit that he could return to the Premier League after previously suiting up for Chelsea.

Is Pulisic frustrated at AC Milan?

Last week, it was claimed that Arsenal had begun taking a keen interest in Pulisic's situation and that Milan could be tempted to sell for €55 million in the summer. Now, Tuttomercatoweb has provided an update on the situation and corroborates the Gunners' interest.

It is asserted that Pulisic is frustrated with the lack of progress on a new contract. He feels he has shown more than enough to warrant better terms. With goalkeeper Mike Maignan having just been handed a bumper new deal, the American believes he should be next in line to get a pay rise.

Pulisic has been "taken aback" by the lack of a formal proposal. He expected his new deal be formalised months ago, yet things have been at a complete standstill. Milan, the report claims, are taking a major risk.

Pulisic will enter the final year of his contract in the summer, when he will also have the chance to put himself in the shop window by starring for the US at the World Cup on home soil.

Milan are aware of this and want to act soon. However, the Italian publication asserts that a point has been reached where it is now unclear if Pulisic would accept an extension. Although generally content in Milan, he is not happy with the club.

In addition to Arsenal, Liverpool have also been alerted to the potential market opportunity Pulisic could be in the summer. For Milan, it is "too late" to ignore the matter. They need to act now to prevent the situation from escalating.
