Neves wants Man Utd transfer

Ruben Neves is desperate to return to the Premier League in the January transfer window, with Manchester United among the clubs he has held talks with.

The former Wolves star is entering the final six months of his contract at Al-Hilal and the Saudi Pro League side are looking to raise around €20 million by cashing in on him instead of losing him on a free in the summer after he turned down a new deal.

The Times report that the fee could be even smaller given the situation, while TEAMtalk claim that Neves’ representatives have already been in contact with United, Newcastle and Tottenham over a potential deal.

Ruben Amorim has been a long-term admirer of Neves and the cut-price deal could be an ideal solution to his midfield woes, although much will depend on whether the 28-year-old is willing to lower his current wages of around €400,000-per-week.

Man Utd go ‘all out’ for Semenyo

Manchester United are set to take advantage of uncertainty surrounding Pep Guardiola’s future at Manchester City by moving for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo in January.

Guardiola could leave City next year after reports emerged of interest in Chelsea manager Enzo Marsesca as a replacement and the Premier League giants have also been considered frontrunners to sign Semenyo for his €74 million release clause.

However, The Telegraph claim that United are ‘expected’ to go for Semenyo amid the doubts over whether Guardiola will be at City next season, with the Red Devils likely to go ‘all out’ to beat their rivals to the punch.

Much will depend on Semenyo’s choice of club, with the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool also said to be in the race.

Romano reveals Bruno Fernandes latest

Fabrizio Romano spoke about Bruno Fernandes’ future at Old Trafford after the Manchester United captain’s shock comments this week.

“Bruno Fernandes released a very strong interview in recent days. Just to clarify one thing, the interview was recorded in November, even if it was released recently. That doesn’t change the importance of what Bruno said,” Romano said.

“Bruno explained that Amorim was the one who really wanted him to stay, while the club, in his feeling, were not desperate to keep him. Bruno believes United were ready to accept a proposal from Saudi Arabia.

“This is important because Bruno himself stopped that move. Saudi clubs wanted him in 2023, in 2024 and again in 2025, and every time Bruno said no. He also didn’t close the door to a future move, saying that one day playing in Saudi Arabia could be an option.

“What I can tell you is that for January, the situation is completely quiet. Nothing is imminent. For the summer transfer window, I would keep an eye on Saudi interest because they are expected to try again.

“At the moment, Bruno is fully focused on Manchester United. But in the future, the Saudi option will return, and it will be up to Bruno and the club to decide.”

Conditions for Mainoo January transfer revealed

Manchester United will only consider allowing Kobbie Mainoo to leave during the transfer window on one condition, despite the midfielder’s desperation to find first-team football elsewhere.

Despite interest from many teams such as Real Madrid and Barcelona, Ruben Amorim has insisted that Mainoo is still an important part of the squad, with United likely to block approaches for the midfielder in January, like they did in the summer.

However, Sky Sports report that United would only be willing to sell Mainoo if they receive an ‘exceptional offer’, with no desire otherwise to see him leave permanently or on loan.

There are thought to be at least ten clubs looking to take Mainoo on loan, however United do not see financial sense in sanctioning a temporary departure considering his low wages and the costs needed to find a replacement.

Teams are also not expected to meet United’s demands for a fee to permanently sign Mainoo, should they even be willing to cash in on him at all, and it may require the player to either force a move or for a big opportunity to arise before his departure is considered.

Man Utd take advantage of new rules to move for €100m Arsenal target

Manchester United have identified a potential €100 million signing to take advantage of the Premier League’s new financial rules and potentially beat the likes of Arsenal to a highly-coveted young star.

The Premier League are set to replace PSR rules with a new ‘squad cost ratio’ model from next season, which would allow teams with larger revenues, such as United, to spend with more flexibility, particularly with no penalties enforced for overspending in the first year.

Should United miss out on Semenyo, Kenan Yildiz could be a player that the club target if they qualify for the Champions League, with Juventus likely to demand as much as €100m for their star man.

“The other name I hear they like, but he’s even more expensive than Semenyo, is Kenan Yildiz, who could be available,” Jacobs told The United Stand. “For me, that’s going to be a €90m-100m signing and Arsenal have the player on their radar as well.”

Yildiz could be sold by Juventus if they miss out on Champions League football for next season, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the teams strongly linked in signing the Turkish wonderkid next summer.
