Manchester United have been informed that Brighton & Hove Albion are willing to sell Carlos Baleba for a fee of €85 million next year.

The Cameroon international was identified as a priority transfer target by the Old Trafford hierarchy this summer and he even reached an agreement on personal terms with the Red Devils.

However, Brighton were unwilling to sanction a sale for less than €114m (£100m) and the proposed transfer collapsed when Man Utd walked away from negotiations after failing to agree a reduced fee with the Seagulls.

Despite this, Ruben Amorim’s side remain interested in landing Baleba and he is one of three key midfield targets on their radar, alongside Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

The 21-year-old has endured a tough start to the 2025-26 season, following his failed summer move to Old Trafford, but the 13-time Premier League champions are expected to battle for his signature next year regardless.

Furthermore, Sky Sport Switzerland reporter Sacha Tavolieri has now confirmed that Baleba may be allowed to depart Brighton if they receive an offer worth €85m.

Carlos Baleba to Man Utd in 2026?

Bayern Munich have reportedly emerged as shock suitors for Baleba’s signature next year, amid speculation over Leon Goretzka’s future in Bavaria, but they are likely to face significant competition for his signature from Man Utd.

The Red Devils have explored a number of alternative targets to the Brighton star in recent weeks, however Tavolieri has revealed that a move to Old Trafford remains Baleba’s priority for 2026.

As a result, a transfer could yet take place, with the two parties having already agreed personal terms earlier this year.

Furthermore, Brighton have now lowered their asking price for the Cameroon international to €85m, with a deal far more likely to take place as a result.
