Transfer Rumours: Victor Osimhen makes request as Chelsea chase €100m star
The January transfer window is creeping ever closer and clubs across the world are beginning to finalise their concrete plans in the market.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 25 November, including the latest updates on Victor Osimhen and Assan Ouedraogo.
Victor Osimhen request
Victor Osimhen has reportedly urged his Nigeria international team-mate Ademola Lookman to join him at Galatasaray amid rumours that he could leave Atalanta in 2026.
Lookman, 28, was close to securing a big-money transfer this summer, but he was unable to force through a proposed move to Inter Milan and he is now expected to depart next year.
Several clubs in Italy have been tipped to pursue a deal, but Osimhen is desperate for his international team-mate to join him at Turkish giants Galatasaray, according to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport.
Chelsea eye €100m wonderkid
Chelsea, Manchester United and other Premier League clubs are 'crazy' about RB Leipzig midfielder Assan Ouedraogo, according to German media.
He was linked with a move to England during his time at Schalke and Sky Germany report that Premier League clubs are still 'crazy' about the youngster, with Chelsea and Man Utd explicitly namedropped.
His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at just €13.6 million, although he has been tipped to become a future €100m player.
Arsenal priority revealed
Arsenal are unlikely to dip into the market in January as their full focus remains on giving key players new contracts, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners have been handing out extensions and pay increases left, right and centre in recent months to reward the players for their development in recent seasons.
Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice are next on the agenda and according to Fabrizio Romano, on his Here We Go podcast, these extensions take precedence over any potential transfer business in January.
Celtic’s new striker?
Celtic will target a move for Columbus Crew striker Wessam Abou Ali in the January transfer window once the appointment of Wilfried Nancy is confirmed.
The Frenchman has been in talks over becoming the new Celtic boss for several weeks, although a deal has not yet been finalised amid advanced negotiations with his current club Columbus Crew.
Multiple sources indicate that an agreement is likely to be reached before the end of 2025 and The Sun state that Nancy will look to raid Columbus Crew for Abou Ali in the upcoming January transfer window once his appointment at Celtic Park has been confirmed.
Jean-Philippe Mateta latest
Jean-Philippe Mateta is reportedly open to leaving Crystal Palace when his current contract expires in 2027.
The France international has just over 18 months remaining on his existing deal at Selhurst Park and talks over fresh terms have stalled as Oliver Glasner’s side are yet to match the 28-year-old’s wage demands, as per GiveMeSport.
As a result, negotiations have barely progressed since they began last year and Mateta is now open to leaving on a Bosman deal when his contract expires at the end of the 2026-27 season.
