Transfer Rumours: Man Utd line up record deal as Chelsea receive request
Several high-profile transfers are expected to be completed during the upcoming January window and a number of updates have emerged over the past few days.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 30 November, including the latest updates on Federico Valverde and Aaron Anselmino.
Man Utd chase Federico Valverde
Manchester United have added Real Madrid star Federico Valverde to their transfer shortlist as they look to sign a new central midfielder next year.
Several outlets have revealed that Ruben Amorim’s side are chasing a deal for the 27-year-old and The Mirror have now confirmed that Valverde is wanted by Man Utd.
Valverde’s future at Real Madrid is in major doubt following a bust-up with Xabi Alonso, as per The Mirror, and it’s reported that Amorim is a huge fan of the Real Madrid star. However, Man Utd may need to pay a club record fee of €114m to land him.
Dortmund want Chelsea talks
Borussia Dortmund want to enter into additional talks with Chelsea over loanee Aaron Anselmino.
The Argentina star is on loan with the Bundesliga giants and although they don’t have an option to make the deal permanent, their sporting director Sebastian Kehl has admitted he would like to speak to Chelsea about extending the youngster’s stay beyond the current season.
“Of course, we hope that Aaron stays longer,” he told reporters. “I’ll certainly have to pick up the phone in the next few days and call [Chelsea]. We have a pretty good relationship.
Liverpool eye Iliman Ndiaye
Liverpool and other suitors have enquired about Everton attacker Iliman Ndiaye, according to a sensational report.
The Senegal international has become a fan favourite at Everton and the 25-year-old's form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Foot Mercato claiming that local rivals Liverpool are enamoured of the Everton star. In fact, the Reds are said to have already enquired about Ndiaye's availability.
Additionally, the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham are credited with an interest in the forward. However, Everton appear under no pressure to sell as Ndiaye is still tied to the club until 2029.
Murillo price tag
Chelsea have been told they will have to pay a significant premium if they want to sign Nottingham Forest defender Murillo next year.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea retain an interest in the Brazil international and they could reportedly move for him in January after opting against pursuing him during the summer.
However, the 23-year-old signed a contract extension at the start of the year and Forest’s strong leverage position could see them demand more than €80m to part ways with Murillo in the winter window.
Adam Wharton decision
Man Utd’s chances of signing Adam Wharton could depend on one crucial factor as they prepare to lodge a fresh approach for the Crystal Palace star.
Wharton is among United’s top targets to strengthen in midfield, with the likes of Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson also high up on Ruben Amorim’s shortlist.
However, the Daily Mirror report that Wharton will snub a move to United unless they secure European qualification for next season, with the youngster only ready to leave Palace for a side that can offer him elite level football.
