Man Utd target Vitor Roque

Man Utd are interested in signing former Barcelona attacker Vitor Roque from Palmeiras but face stiff competition from Chelsea.

According to a report from Sky Sport Switzerland, Ruben Amorin’s side are set to be major protagonists in the chase for the 20-year-old attacker, who is back in Brazil after a failed spell with the Camp Nou side.

The youngster has been in prolific form since returning to his homeland, scoring 15 goals in his last 20 matches to rebuild his reputation rapidly

United, who were one of the clubs interested in signing Vitor Roque before he moved to Barca and have recently been linked with a €50 million bid for the striker. Chelsea, though, are said to have a “more concrete” interest for the moment.

With Amorim admitting that United may need to dip into the striker market ahead of Bryan Mbeumo’s departure to the AFCON, this is a deal to watch.

Gallagher on Man Utd’s radar

Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher is one of the players Man Utd are considering in a bid to add more strength to their midfield, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Adding at least one more midfielder to Amorim’s squad is considered to be a priority for 2026.

Romano revealed: "Conor Gallagher could be an opportunity, but Atletico Madrid didn't want to let him go in August. So let's see what happens in the January window.

“Angelo Stiller is also a player they appreciate from Stuttgart, but I don't see a German club selling one of the stars in the January window at all. So January is not going to be easy.

“It's going to be about opportunities in the summer could be different. And for sure, Manchester United in 2026 will add again, at least one midfielder.”

FootballTransfers has previously analysed United’s midfield possibilities for the windows ahead, with Gallagher rating among their best options.

Adam Wharton contract talks begin

Man Utd have also been linked with a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, who has been widely seen as an ideal solution for Amorim’s midfield.

In a bid to fight off interest from other clubs, Palace have opened contract talks with the England star, Romano says.

“Palace are on it. They've spoken already to his representative several times about this intention they have to give him a new contract,” the transfer insider told GiveMeSport.

“At the same time, let's see what's going to happen there, because the boy has been super professional already last summer, when he already had some kind of opportunity if he wanted to go. But for Palace, he was untouchable. Also, in the recent months, we had many rumours, and the boy, again, is behaving in a fantastic way.

“Palace are super happy with Adam, and Adam is quite happy with Palace. He understands that he's probably at the best club to develop in this moment for him. But then in the summer, you never know, in case there is a big opportunity, a big financial proposal, we have to see what happens.”

Romano added that there is no guarantee that Palace will be successful in their attempts to secure a new deal with Wharton, who is valued at over €100m by his club.

Dortmund monitoring Sancho

Man Utd have made the decision not to renew Jadon Sancho’s contract at the end of the season, meaning the €86m signing is on track to become a free agent in 2026.

But that’s not yet certain. Dortmund are weighing up the possibility of signing the 25-year-old winger for a third spell at the club as soon as January, Bild reports. It would mean Sancho’s loan at Aston Villa, which has so far proven a flop, would need to be mutually terminated, but given he’s yet to start a match for the Birmingham club, that seems a genuine possibility.

Sancho could be available for a cut-price fee in the middle of the season, with the England winger having failed to catch light at Villa Park.

McTominay urging Napoli to sign Mainoo

Scott McTominay has told Napoli to save Kobbie Mainoo from his current Man Utd troubles, according to The Sun.

Mainoo finds himself on the periphery of Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford, with speculation building that he will try to force a loan move in January.

A source is quoted as saying: “Scott has been to see Antonio Conte and told him to get Kobbie.

“He’s told him all about his strengths and what an outstanding player he is.

“He knows all about him from his time at United and thinks he would be a great addition to the squad, whether it’s on loan or a permanent deal.

“Kobbie has been brought up the right way at United having been in the academy since he was a little boy.

“He would fit straight in and give Napoli a boost.”
