Celtic face the prospect of losing winger Seb Tounekti, with the Tunisia international winger being tracked by at least one Premier League club.

The Hoops’ summer transfer window left much to be desired, but Tounekti has brought a dash of flair to a side that otherwise has been found wanting in imagination and creativity.

The 23-year-old was a Deadline Day signing from Hammarby, with the winger signing for €6.4 million on a five-year contract.

While his end product has been questioned at times – he has two goals and no assists in 11 appearances across all competitions for the Hoops – Tounekti has proven a player capable of getting fans excited and has been a rare success in the Celtic side this season.

But the summer arrival could be on his way out of the Glasgow giants already.

Maghreb Foot reports that Leeds United are “closely monitoring” the winger, having been impressed by his speed, technical qualities and ability to fashion opportunities for others.

Celtic board can’t afford to sell Tounekti

It would be a huge surprise if Celtic were to prove willing to part with Tounekti midway through a season that promises to be a challenge for the Parkhead side.

The pressure is on the board not to allow key players to leave in the foreseeable future, having been heavily criticised for their transfer policy in the summer.

If Tounekti were allowed to depart – particularly as early as January – it would only add fuel to the fire of the fans that the board lack the ambition to carry the club forward.

Leeds would have to table an extraordinary bid for this deal even to be a starter in the middle part of a season in which the Hoops will have European interest in the early weeks of 2026 as a minimum.

Tounekti has impressed in the Premiership but so far lacks the cutting edge to suggest that the Premier League side will be willing to table such a bid.
