Arsenal interest in ‘Japanese Messi’ confirmed
Real Sociedad have agreed to sell Arsenal target Takefusa Kubo in January.
Fichajes reports that the Spanish giants have finally bowed down to the wishes of the winger, who has been pushing to leave for a bigger club for some time now.
The report states that if a suitable offer for Kubo is tabled in January, then Real Sociedad will not stand in his way.
Fichajes also adds that Kubo, who is referred to by some as the 'Japanese Messi' is liked by Arsenal.
The Gunners are interested in potentially signing the wideman, but face competition from Tottenham. The BBC also reported this summer that Arsenal are considering a move for Kubo.
Kubo has a release clause of €60 million in his contract but Real Sociedad will accept a transfer fee far below this.
Kubo is a diminutive left-footed right-winger who likes to cut inside and dribble.
He has scored 24 goals in 147 games at Real Sociedad in four seasons.
Kubo, a Japan international who spent time in the academies of both Barcelona and Real Madrid, is said to be unhappy with life with the San Sebastian side currently.
He is frustrated by his own inconsistency but also the lack of reinforcements that La Real made this summer to replace the likes of Martin Zubimendi, who left for Arsenal.
Real Madrid will be monitoring developments in this case closely. Xabi Alonso’s side still possess 50% of the economic rights to any future sale, which complicates matters for any Arsenal bid.
Kubo has never hit double figures in goals in a single season and has netted once in 10 outings for Real Sociedad this term.
He has been capped 48 times by Japan and scored seven goals for his country.
