The last player to do so was 119 years ago back in October 1906.

Percy Saul is someone who you probably will not have heard about until now. He also didn't cost Liverpool €145 million to sign.

Isak disastrous start at Liverpool

Isak matched Saul's record after Liverpool were thrashed 3-0 at home by Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Sweden striker started the game but again disappointed and was hauled off after 68 minutes.

The defeat was Isak's fourth in a row as a starter and also Liverpool's sixth loss in their last seven Premier League matches.

Liverpool now find themselves down in 11th position in what is becoming a disastrous defence of their Premier League crown. Manager Arne Slot is now in danger of the sack.

Liverpool completed the signing of Isak from Newcastle United this summer for a Premier League record transfer fee of €145 million (£125m).

This completed one of the longest transfer sagas of recent years with Newcastle fighting tooth and nail to keep Isak at St James' Park.

The behaviour of Isak was called into question after he publicly demanded a move and was effectively exiled from the club for weeks.

Ultimately, Isak got his way and made the move to Anfield.

However, he has struggled badly since joining Liverpool.

In nine appearances in all competitions he has managed just one goal and one assist. That goal came in the EFL Cup.

Isak had emerged as one of the best strikers in European football over the past couple of seasons.

He joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for €73m in 2022.

The 26-year-old went on to score 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle.
