Transfer Rumours: Man Utd close to striker signing as Chelsea receive Rogers update
Although the transfer window is currently shut, rumours continue to dominate the online football world and 28 October is no different.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the most high-profile speculation from the day, including the latest on Kevin Filling and Morgan Rogers.
Man Utd in talks over new striker deal
Manchester United are reportedly in “concrete negotiations” to sign 16-year-old AIK striker Kevin Filling.
The Red Devils have pivoted their transfer strategy to chase the best youngsters in world football since the arrival of INEOS as minority owners and Filling has now emerged as their latest wonderkid target.
Filling has scored two goals in seven first-team appearances for AIK so far this season, and his development in Sweden has caught the attention of Ruben Amorim’s side, who are now locked in advanced talks over a possible deal, as per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
Morgan Rogers negotiations
Aston Villa have opened talks with Morgan Rogers over a new contract in response to interest from Chelsea and Tottenham.
Fabrizio Romano reports on his YouTube channel that negotiations are ongoing between Rogers and Villa to extend and improve the salary of his deal that expires in 2030.
It has been reported that Chelsea were interested in a €100 million deal for the England international this summer, however they ultimately opted against pursuing a transfer.
Man City lead transfer race
Manchester City are currently ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga, according to reports.
Several elite clubs have been heavily linked with a move for Monga since his breakthrough into the Leicester senior side and Real Madrid have even been sensationally touted as potential suitors amid their pursuit of a long-term replacement for Vinicius Junior.
However, Man City are currently the frontrunners to sign the England U19 international, as per TBR Football.
Arsenal and Chelsea miss out on signing
Arsenal and Chelsea are both set to miss out on the signing of Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl, according to reports in Germany.
The 17-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the clubs keeping close tabs on his situation at the Allianz Arena.
However, his current deal with Vincent Kompany’s side isn’t due to expire until 2028 and an agreement has already been reached to extend his contract by a further 12 months to ward off transfer interest, according to the aforementioned Plettenberg on X.
