Bayern Munich have reportedly re-opened “secret talks” with Nicolas Jackson as they look to finalise a Transfer Deadline Day deal for the Chelsea striker.

Jackson, 24, was expected to join Bayern on loan on Saturday, with a full agreement reached between all parties, however he was informed to return to Chelsea following the hamstring injury suffered by Liam Delap versus Fulham.

The Senegal star initially refused to board a plane back to London, but it was confirmed on Sunday evening that his proposed transfer to Bayern was “100% off,” with a return to Chelsea on the cards.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side fuelled further speculation of a Deadline Day exit when they opted to recall Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland in order to provide cover following Delap’s injury.

Jackson was subsequently touted as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak at Newcastle United, although Eddie Howe’s team have now struck a full agreement to finally sign Brentford star Yoane Wissa after weeks of interest in the 28-year-old.

Nicolas Jackson to leave Chelsea?

Bayern Munich’s deal for Jackson appeared to be dead in the early hours of Deadline Day, but the transfer is now back on, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

He posted on X: “BREAKING. Last night the loan deal for Nicolas Jackson and FC Bayern was officially off.

“It’s unbelievable, but: we’ve learned that top-secret negotiations and talks are ongoing again. Jackson deal to Bayern is back on!”

This has been confirmed by The Telegraph’s Matt Law, while football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has also hinted that Jackson could still be set to join Bayern before the window slams shut at 19:00 BST.

Jackson scored 13 goals in 37 matches across all competitions last season, although he received two red cards in his final five appearances of the campaign and Chelsea are open to a sale after signing Joao Pedro and the aforementioned Delap so far this summer.
