Tottenham AGREE Xavi Simons transfer - Fabrizio Romano
Tottenham Hotspur have officially reached an agreement to sign RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Former PSG and Barcelona youth star Simons has been linked with a move to Chelsea for several weeks, yet the Stamford Bridge side have seen their proposed deal hiajcked by Thomas Frank's side.
Although the Blues agreed personal terms with the player, they failed to move forward with regards to having a bid accepted by Leipzig and Spurs have now swooped.
The north London outfit saw an official bid accepted in the early hours of Friday morning and Romano has now confirmed the deal.
He posted on X: "BREAKING: Xavi Simons to Tottenham, here we go!
"All SIGNED between Spurs and RB Leipzig for fee worth €60m fixed after agreement revealed overnight. Xavi has completed his medical and his contract is also now signed. Contract until 2030 + 2 year option."
With an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €67.5m, Xavi promises to be a bargain purchase for Spurs.
Tottenham to complete sensational hijack
Xavi Simons’ move to Tottenham is now a formality and Chelsea will be forced to pursue an alternative target.
The Blues have also been linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez in recent days and reports in Spain suggest they have lodged a new proposal worth €65m as they look to secure his signature.
Simons contributed 20 goals and assists in 33 games for RB Leipzig last season, and he is expected to provide additional attacking depth for Tottenham following James Maddison's season-ending ACL injury.
