Napoli are confident to complete the signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Man Utd in the next 48 hours.

That is according to Nicolo Schira, who reports that a deal is now at a very advanced stage.

Talks on Monday were extremely positive, with Napoli agreeing a $5,78 million loan with option to sign for a total of $52.6m.

Schira’s report follows on from the news of Fabrizio Romano, who says that the transfer is at the 'final stages.'

Romano, along with Alfredo Pedulla, says that Napoli’s option to buy can become an obligation if certain conditions are met. The Red Devils are inclined to accept the offer.

Napoli decided to move for Hojlund after Romelu Lukaku suffered a long-term injury.

AC Milan had been favourites for Hojlund but Napoli have now moved in to close the deal.

Schira says that Hojlund has negotiated a contract until 2030 worth €5m a year.

Hojlund is no longer in manager Ruben Amorim's plans for the coming season and has not played a minute this campaign.

Man Utd signed Hojlund in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta for $87m.

The 22-year-old has struggled badly, failing to score a single Premier League goal before Christmas in his first season.

Despite picking up in the second half of the campaign, he was a disaster in his second season.

Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals all season and United have now given up on the striker.
