Does Kobbie Mainoo want to leave Man Utd?
Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is open to the idea of leaving Old Trafford this summer before transfer deadline day on 1 September.
The 20-year-old has been an unused substitute during both of the Red Devils’ opening two fixtures of the 2025-26 Premier League season and he is now willing to explore the possibility of leaving his boyhood club.
That is according to talkSPORT, who claim that Mainoo would consider a summer move if Man Utd receive a suitable transfer offer.
Mainoo endured an injury-hit campaign last year and he is currently behind Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte in the pecking order at Old Trafford. Furthermore, the club’s interest in Carlos Baleba suggests that Mainoo may not have a long-term future under Ruben Amorim.
Speaking after Man Utd’s 1-1 draw against Fulham on Sunday, Amorim told reporters: “He’s (Mainoo) fighting for the position now with Bruno, and I changed two midfielders.
“I let Mason Mount [play] there because we want to score a goal and when I changed I felt the team needed to return to one holding midfielder near Bruno.
“So he just needs to fight for the position with Bruno, as [it] should be at Manchester United. [Sometimes] he’s going to play with Bruno, but at the moment he’s fighting in training with Bruno for the position.”
Who could Kobbie Mainoo join this summer?
Earlier this year, it was claimed that Man Utd would reluctantly be open to selling Mainoo due to concerns over their PSR situation.
Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for the 20-year-old during the January transfer window, while Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with significant interest throughout this summer.
However, Thomas Frank’s side have already signed Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich this summer and they are now prioritising a move for Manchester City winger Savinho.
As a result, a move for Mainoo now seems slightly unlikely, although the England star could still be set to depart Man Utd amid his limited role under Amorim.
