Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is 'open' to a move to Major League Soccer, according to a report.

The Portugal international has repeatedly been linked with a transfer away from Old Trafford this summer, given that Man Utd remain a club in turmoil.

Saudi clubs have sought to pounce on the Red Devils' fragility, but the 30-year-old twice turned down a hefty payday earlier this window and is expected to do the same with Al-Ittihad's recent approach, as revealed on The Transfers Podcast.

However, it is difficult not to notice Fernandes' frustration with the current state of Man Utd, and transfer speculation continues to abound. The latest rumours are now linking him with a move stateside.

According to CaughtOffside, Fernandes has received interest from unnamed MLS clubs, and the report claims that the Portuguese superstar would be 'open' to the move.

Fernandes can't move to MLS this summer

Be that as it may, Fernandes' supposed openness to a move to the US is nothing that should concern Man Utd fans at present, as the MLS transfer window closed on 21 August.

Any deal for the 30-year-old could only materialise in 2026. However, a transfer to North America would be quite frustrating for Man Utd as MLS clubs can't match the transfer fees their Saudi counterparts are able to pay.

LAFC broke the MLS transfer record this summer when they signed Son Heung-min from Tottenham for €22 million, which is nothing compared to the money Man Utd could have raked in from a Middle Eastern suitor.

The Red Devils would have demanded over €100m had Fernandes opted to pursue a move to Riyadh or Jeddah this summer, so a switch to MLS for a fraction of that fee just a year later would leave a sour taste at the debt-ridden club.
