Chelsea's next signing CONFIRMED with deal '100% agreed'
Xavi Simons is expected to join Chelsea before the end of the summer transfer window, with personal terms now “100% agreed.”
The Netherlands international has set his sights on completing a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, as confirmed by multiple outlets, and he has reached a full agreement over a long-term deal with the Blues.
Simons is currently valued at $82 million by RB Leipzig and the Bundesliga giants have no intention of allowing him to depart for a cheaper fee, according to German outlet Kicker.
That has been reiterated by Leipzig’s sporting director Marcel Schafer, who admitted over the weekend: “We make all our decisions based on sporting and financial considerations. If it suits everyone, we have often facilitated player transfers in the past.
“That’s not the case at the moment, and if nothing changes, Xavi will remain an RB Leipzig player.”
Xavi Simons to Chelsea?
Simons scored once and provided one assist during a 90-minute appearance versus Sandhausen in the DFB-Pokal on Saturday and he is also expected to feature during Leipzig’s opening Bundesliga game of the season.
That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who has delivered a major update regarding Simons’ future. He posted on X: “Unless something unexpected happens, the current plan for Xavi Simons is for him to start for RB Leipzig against FC Bayern in the Bundesliga opener on Friday.
“After that, the move to Chelsea is set to be completed. The chances of the Chelsea transfer going through remain very high. Xavi only wants CFC. Personal terms are 100% agreed. RB still waiting for an official offer.”
Although Chelsea are yet to lodge a formal bid for Simons, they are still expected to sign the 22-year-old before Transfer Deadline Day, although they are being forced to wait until Christopher Nkunku secures a move away from the club.
Once Nkunku’s future is resolved, Chelsea are expected to intensify their pursuit of Simons.
