Wesley Fofana has removed almost every trace of Chelsea from his Instagram account.

The Frenchman has been out of the Blues' side since last season after suffering a hamstring injury in the winter. He eventually returned to the pitch, but subsequent tests revealed that surgery was required, sidelining him until the summer.

Fofana is now fit again, but Enzo Maresca and Chelsea are trying to ease him back slowly. Despite a lack of centre-back options, the 24-year-old was only an unused substitute in Sunday's 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace after missing most of pre-season.

The defender has a history of serious injuries and has been restricted to just 34 appearances in three years at the club, so the Blues are hesitant to immediately throw him into the deep end despite the absence of Levi Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Fofana has now raised eyebrows by deleting almost every trace of Chelsea from his Instagram account, which is usually a sign of frustration when players do this. Yoane Wissa took this course of action earlier this week to signal his disapproval of Brentford blocking his move to Newcastle.

What's going on with Fofana?

However, according to Sky Sports, there are 'no issues' with Fofana, who has simply 'reorganised' his Instagram account. Chelsea are not aware of the player having any reason to be upset.

Fofana has retained the post he made after he joined Chelsea in 2022, which suggests that he did not actively try to purge Chelsea content from his account.

The report adds that Fofana is not the only person with access to his Instagram account, so these changes may not even have been made by the player himself.

Unfortunately, the removal of Chelsea from his account has caused a stir on social media, which has led to abusive messages from displeased supporters, including racist comments.
