Cole Palmer is NOT happy with Chelsea latest transfer decision
Cole Palmer likely won't be happt with Chelsea's latest transfer decision.
The Blues have been extremely active in the market so far this summer, splashing out €279.7 million ($327m) on eight new players, while offloading a further 17 stars as they look to perfect Enzo Maresca’s squad in order to challenge for major honours this term.
The reigning Club World Cup champions have opted against signing a new central defender, despite Levi Colwill’s potentially season-ending ACL injury, and they are instead focusing on strengthening their options in attack.
Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are set to be sold in order to raise funds, while they are reportedly expected to be replaced by RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons and Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
Chelsea were also interested in signing Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, who won the PFA Young Player of the Year award for the 2024-25 Premier League season, but they have officially decided to end their pursuit of the England international.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Rogers will not join Chelsea before the end of Transfer Deadline Day, despite immense speculation of a possible Stamford Bridge switch.
Although Chelsea are keen admirers of the 22-year-old, they simply believe that he isn’t for sale this summer.
Why Cole Palmer may be angry at Chelsea’s transfer decision
Chelsea’s decision to end their pursuit of Rogers means that Palmer will be denied the chance to reunite with one of his closest friends in football.
The pair played together in Manchester City’s academy and Palmer copied his trademark ‘cold’ celebration from the Aston Villa star.
During a recent interview with Sky Sports, the Chelsea talisman even revealed that he speaks to Rogers on FaceTime on a daily basis.
However, Palmer will be unable to play alongside Rogers at Chelsea, with the club opting against initiating advanced talks with Aston Villa.
