Chelsea owners BlueCo agree deal to sign Julio Enciso - David Ornstein
Chelsea owners BlueCo have agreed a deal to sign Brighton attacker Julio Enciso, according to David Ornstein.
The Paraguay international is set to link up with BlueCo's budding footballing empire. David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that an agreement with Brighton has been reached to sign Enciso.
It is not entirely clear from Ornstein's reporting which club has actually signed Enciso, but the transfer insider states that the young attacking midfielder is expected to initially spend time at Strasbourg.
Given that Chelsea have already sent three players out on loan to the Ligue 1 outfit - the maximum number allowed as per FIFA rules - it appears that Strasbourg will sign Enciso permanently before eventually moving him on to their affiliate if he develops as expected.
Indeed, Ornstein states that the 21-year-old is viewed as a future Chelsea star. The journalist has not disclosed how much BlueCo are paying for Enciso, but negotiations seem to have gone smoothly due to the excellent relationship between Chelsea's owners and the Seagulls.
BlueCo sign Enciso
Enciso currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €21.2 million. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich, scoring two goals and recording three assists.
Signing the highly-rated, versatile attacker will be a major coup for Strasbourg, but this is likely to be another contentious deal as it further illustrates the proud French club's status as a farm team for Chelsea, which is a continued source of frustration for supporters.
Strasbourg currently have 34 players in their squad, 13 of whom are attackers or attack-minded players, so BlueCo are clearly also applying their notorious strategy of stockpiling talent in Alsace.
Strasbourg are in the midst of a record-breaking window, having already spent €102m on new recruits while only bringing in around €50m from sales. This would be unsustainable for most Ligue 1 clubs, but BlueCo are evidently backing the French side in a major way.
Mike Penders, Kendry Paez and Mamadou Sarr have been loaned to Strasbourg from Chelsea, while Mathis Amougou - who only joined the Blues in January - and Ishe Samuels-Smith have been moved to the sister side permanently to circumvent loan limitations.
