REVEALED: Chelsea's 49-man squad - but Enzo Maresca still wants MORE players
Chelsea continue to be active in the transfer market, despite Enzo Maresca having an astonishing 49 players to select from.
The Blues have spent over €100 million already in the summer transfer market, with the headline signing Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap.
Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro will add yet more options for Maresca, and the Italian still wants at least one more player to join their ranks, according to Fabrizio Romano.
“Chelsea are not done yet. First of all, they’re looking at centre-backs and they’re also looking at one more potential offensive addition,” he explained on his YouTube channel.
While the Blues will only sign another attacker, potentially Lyon winger Malick Fofana, if Noni Madueke leaves for Arsenal, the West London club could wind up with an astonishing 50 players on the books of their first team.
It leaves Maresca facing potentially difficult decisions come the beginning of the Premier League season. He will only be able to name a senior squad of 25 players aged 21 or over.
There are numerous sales programmed to reduce the inflated roster, with the likes of Christopher Nkunku set to leave, while Mykhailo Mudryk is provisionally banned following a failed drug test, but Chelsea are still set to have an enormous squad to juggle.
