OFFICIAL: Monaco complete Paul Pogba transfer

AS Monaco have announced the signing of former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
The 2018 World Cup winner is finally back in competitive football after his doping ban. Initially suspended for four years, Pogba had his punishment reduced to 18 months last year and has been eligible to compete again since March.
Despite having had the ability to sign for a club in January, Pogba decided to take his time to pick the right project for himself after almost two years away from the game.
Talks had been held with DC United and Olympique Marseille, but the latter ultimately decided against moving for the former France international. However, in recent weeks, it became increasingly clear that a move to Ligue 1 was on the cards.
Monaco were offered Pogba's services earlier this month, and the Principality engaged as they are targeting ambitious signings to help them compete in the Champions League next season.
Monaco sign Pogba
The Ligue 1 club have now officially announced that the 32-year-old has been signed to a two-year contract, joining as a free agent after having his Juventus contract terminated in late 2024.
The veteran midfielder has not played a minute of competitive football since September 2023, so it will be interesting to see if he can still perform at the highest level.

Prior to his ban, Pogba increasingly dealt with recurring injury problems, which will be another aspect of this deal to keep an eye on. In recent months, the Frenchman kept himself fit in Miami.
Pogba is expected to be joined at Monaco by Barcelona winger Ansu Fati, himself a player who has had his career disrupted by fitness issues. The former wonderkid has already completed his medical and is expected to be unveiled shortly.
