Theo Hernandez agreement

AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez is expected to leave San Siro this summer and Romano has revealed that he has already agreed to join Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

“Keep an eye on Al-Hilal because they have an agreement with Theo Hernandez,” Romano told his YouTube channel. “They have an agreement with Milan on €30m + €5m. they’re still working on the player’s side. Al-Hilal will be very active this summer.”

Liverpool deal given ‘here we go’ treatment

Liverpool have already completed the signings of Bayer Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, and they are now set to send one of their current stars to the Bundesliga giants.

“Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen from Liverpool is a here we go,” Romano revealed. These two clubs have a solid relationship and are doing a lot of business together this summer: Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, an historical signing for Liverpool. This week, Milos Kerkez will arrive from Bournemouth but going the other way we have to mention Quansah.

“Liverpool and Leverkusen have agreed a deal for Quansah. The deal is worth £30m plus £5m in addons. It’s a five-year contract and there will be a buy-back clause in the player’s contract at Leverkusen.

“What does it mean? Leverkusen accept that Liverpool will have control of the player in the future. If in two, three or four years, Liverpool can return for the player with no need for negotiations. It would be automatic. Of course, it’s an important price. It’s undisclosed for now.

“It's an important move for Richard Hughes, the Liverpool sporting director, who really wanted to keep control of the player.”

Paul Pogba to join Monaco

Meanwhile, Paul Pogba is close to sealing his return to football with Monaco. The Frenchman hasn’t played a competitive match since September 2023 due to a doping ban, but he will become Monaco’s second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Eric Dier.

Romano admitted: “The here we go for Paul Pogba to Monaco is coming. Now the deal is almost done. There are some details that still need to be done. It’s a two-year contract. Remember, he’s a free agent. Pogba is ready and the deal is almost done.”

Barcelona confirm transfer plan

Barcelona reestablished themselves as a serious force on the European scene last season and they are set to back Hansi Flick in the market this summer. However, two key stars are expected to depart, according to Romano.

He told his YouTube channel: “Deco has confirmed that [Wojciech] Szczesny will sign a new contract with the club. He’s staying at Barcelona. Now Marc-Andre ter Stegen has to decide what he wants to do because for Barcelona he’s no longer the starting goalkeeper. We’ll follow that story.

“In other news, Deco has confirmed that Ronald Araujo stays this summer and it could be Andreas Christensen who leaves. He has said that Barcelona will sell a defender this summer, but it won’t be Araujo. The indications are that it will be Christensen. He can leave the club if he gets a good proposal.”

Nico Williams agrees Barcelona move

Romano also revealed the latest regarding Barcelona’s pursuit of Nico Williams.

“For the very first time in public, Barcelona have confirmed they’re working on Nico Williams. He has announced that Nico said ‘yes’ to Barcelona,” Romano said.

“But they still have to find a way financially to make this deal work with this release clause. Athletic are still not giving the green light for Nico to leave on different payment terms. They insist on the release clause or nothing. Let’s see what Barcelona can do.

“The reaction of the Premier League clubs is that ‘the story’s over, Nico will go to Barcelona’. In Germany, Bayern want to wait a bit more. At least a few days. They feel that if the deal collapses, they are ready to offer more than Barcelona.

“The player wants to go to Barca. The efforts from Bayern are useless at the moment, but their strategy is to wait.”

Romano added: “Bradley Barcola is really appreciated by Bayern. PSG want to continue with Barcola and see him a really important player for the project. They’re also considering a new contract with him to discuss in the next weeks or months.

“Rafael Leao is also being discussed for that position. There are many names being discussed.”

Chelsea reach contract agreement

Finally, Romano revealed the latest state of play regarding Chelsea’s interest in Jamie Gittens and Mike Maignan.

“Jamie Gittens has an agreement with Chelsea on a seven-year contract,” Romano revealed. “It’s all ready. Now they’re working club-to-club to try to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund. Chelsea keep advancing on this deal and continue to see Gittens as their priority target.

“It’s important to add on Mike Maignan. Since the deal collapsed before the start of the Club World Cup, Chelsea and Milan have not reactivated talks. At the moment, the Maignan deal is completely off. It’s not advancing. The situation is really quiet.”
