Chelsea target Nick Woltemade has reached a full verbal agreement to join Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports in Germany.

The 23-year-old, who has scored six goals in four appearances for Germany en route to the U21 European Championship final, enjoyed a sublime debut season at Stuttgart last year.

Woltemade joined the Bundesliga side on a free transfer from Werder Bremen last summer, after notching a measly two goals in 51 first-team appearances for his boyhood club, and he immediately established himself as one of Germany’s most dangerous forwards.

He scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 33 games across all competitions as Stuttgart finished ninth in the Bundesliga table, while he earned his first senior Germany cup during their Nations League semi-final clash against Portugal in early June.

Woltemade’s form prompted Chelsea to open talks over a summer deal, as per BILD, but he has now opted to join Bayern.

That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who posted on X: “FC Bayern and Nick Woltemade have reached a full verbal agreement on a summer transfer!

“The 23 y/o versatile striker wants to join Bayern with immediate effect. Long-term contract until 2030 with salary terms already agreed in the last days. Bayern’s supervisory board have already approved the deal.

“There have been no negotiations between the clubs yet. The contract with VfB is valid until 2028, with no release clause. VfB want to keep him.”

Stuttgart to sell Nick Woltemade?

Although Woltemade has agreed personal terms with Bayern, his proposed move to the Allianz Arena could still collapse as Stuttgart have been angered by the Bavarians’ approach to the transfer.

In fact, Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has admitted to BILD: “The fact that this development hasn't gone unnoticed by others and that we now read about interest from other clubs almost every day doesn't change the fact that Nick's journey with us is far from over.

“We are firmly planning with Nick and want to benefit from his athletic qualities in the coming year as well. There is no alternative planning scenario for this.”

Woltemade, who has been dubbed the ‘two-metre Messi’, boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of just €18.2 million, however Stuttgart may reportedly demand a fee of €80m to sanction a sale this summer.
