Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in a shock move for Celtic attacker Daizen Maeda, according to a report.

The Japan international has been a sensational signing since joining Celtic in 2022. Maeda initially linked up with the Glasgow giants on loan, but his move was swiftly made permanent for just €1.5 million.

The versatile attacker, who can play out wide and centrally, has notched a whopping 62 goals and 27 assists in 154 appearances across all competitions for the Bhoys to date.

However, as he has now admitted, his future at Celtic Park is far from certain. “Well, I’m not sure. That’s a difficult question," Maeda told Sky Sports when asked whether he will stay at Celtic long-term.

"While I’m here, I always want to fight and play for Celtic. I want to keep focusing and playing for the team.”

Maeda to complete shock move?

A sensational report from TBR Football now claims that the 27-year-old could be on his way to the summit of the Premier League. It is asserted that a host of big Premier League clubs have scouted Maeda this year.

The report names Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham as suitors for the winger, but a move to the first three would certainly come as a huge shock given his age.

Moreover, Celtic haven't sold a player to one of the Premier League's 'Big Six' since Kieran Tierney's move to Arsenal in 2019, illustrating the disparity in quality between the summit of the Scottish Premiership and the Premier League.

Maeda is under contract until 2027, and the report claims that Celtic could demand as much as €30 million. To be sure, this would make him relatively affordable for an elite side, but it would be a significant overpayment for a player with an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of just €11.1m.
