Man Utd: Who stays and who goes after Europa League final disaster?

Manchester United hit rock bottom in the Europa League final on Wednesday as Ruben Amorim’s side crashed to a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
With the summer transfer window just around the corner, those with power at Old Trafford will have learned a good deal about the squad in recent months.
While many fans would doubtless like to see the whole lot cleared out, that is simply not a realistic prospect. So who should stay and who should go from Old Trafford?
Players Man Utd should move on
Man Utd’s financial position has to be taken into account when considering who goes. Funds are needed to rebuild the squad, and with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) squeezing things at Old Trafford, it means that stars will need to be sold.
Bruno Fernandes has volunteered to depart if the club wants rid of him. While the Portuguese has carried the Red Devils in recent years, he turns 31 in September and surely in his last years of commanding a sizeable transfer fee. United should pounce on any offer that comes from the Saudi Pro League.
Yes, United won’t get a No.10 of the same standard, but instead, potentially two new starters could be recruited, strengthening the team overall.
Another controversial figure to fall into this category is Alejandro Garnacho. Unfortunately for the Argentine, he has become a toxic influence around the dressing room due to the antics of his brother and agent on social media. For squad stability, this is not healthy, while he is also a ‘pure profit’ player having come through the academy.
The third figure that will spark debate from the column is Kobbie Mainoo. He is one of the few players at United who can still command a big fee, and his marketability will only drop the longer Amorim remains at the club.
Mainoo does not fit easily into the Amorim system, so it’s unfortunately time up for him. These desperate times call for brutal action.

Players who Man Utd need to keep
One name who appears on the stay list that will no doubt raise eyebrows is goalkeeper Andre Onana, who has been culpable of some high-profile errors this season and has done himself few favours with some comments he has made in the media.
Onana’s underlying statistics are actually pretty solid, though. There’s no doubt that in the long term, United should be looking for a change in goal, but given the amount of surgery that needs to be conducted this summer, it’s probably better to stick it out with the former Inter Milan keeper for the moment.
