Ruben Amorim risks Man Utd SACK after West Ham loss

Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in world football, yet they are currently languishing down in 16th place in the Premier League table.
That is nothing short of embarrassing, and Ruben Amorim must accept a fair portion of blame.
The 40-year-old arrived at Old Trafford with a reputation as one of Europe’s most talented young managers, following a stellar stint at Sporting CP, but his stock is now at an all-time low, despite the fact that Man Utd have qualified for the Europa League final.
Man Utd were poor under Erik ten Hag, however they were arguably never this poor. In fact, the Red Devils have been woeful in the Premier League since the appointment of Amorim, while positive results in the Europa League knockout stages have almost exclusively come against 10 men.
Real Sociedad and Lyon both earned first-leg draws versus Man Utd, but were beaten in the second-leg after receiving a red card, while Athletic Club went down to 10 men during a 3-0 first leg loss to the Red Devils.
In fact, Man Utd’s 4-1 win over Athletic Club in their semi-final second leg was the first Europa League match they’d won against 11 men in the entire knockout stages.
In the Premier League, meanwhile, it’s been a horrorshow under Amorim.

Man Utd under Ruben Amorim
Man Utd have won six, drawn six and lost a whopping 13 of the 25 league matches since his arrival in November, and three of those victories came against teams who will be playing in the Championship next season.
Furthermore, the 1-0 win over Fulham, thanks to a late deflected strike from Lisandro Martinez, is their only victory against a team not in the relegation zone since the start of 2025.
The Red Devils have the chance to qualify for next year’s Champions League when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, but that shouldn’t take attention away from their frankly woeful league form under Amorim.
A 2-0 loss to West Ham United on Sunday extended their winless run to seven Premier League matches, and with fixtures against Chelsea and Aston Villa on the agenda, Man Utd could feasibly end the campaign in 17th place.
That is simply not acceptable for a club of Man Utd’s stature.
Amorim may have only signed two players since his arrival - Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven - but he hasn’t adapted to the Premier League at all and his system doesn’t seem suited to English football.
It’s almost impossible for things to get worse next season, but Amorim should find himself in danger of being sacked even if he guides Man Utd to Europa League glory if INEOS are serious about taking the club forward.
