Man City make RECORD bid for Tijjani Reijnders

Manchester City have set their sights on Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, The Telegraph reports.
The Premier League giants are prepared to spend big to pry the 26-year-old international from AC Milan – possibly for the biggest fee in the Italian club's history.
According to sources close to the club, Manchester City are working on a restructuring of Pep Guardiola's squad this summer. One of the key points in that process is the reinforcement of the midfield, with Reijnders at the top of the list.
The former AZ player has developed into a regular at AC Milan and has also distinguished himself in the Champions League. His versatility – he can play as a traditional No.8 but also in a more defensive role - makes him attractive to Guardiola, who is hungry for new players.
Record amount in the making
AC Milan are aware of the interest and expect a bid as soon as the transfer window opens. However, the club would only be willing to talk if the offer surpasses the Rossoneri’s current sales record.
That is held by Kaka, who left for Real Madrid in 2009 for €67m. The Italians consider Reijnders to be more valuable than Sandro Tonali, who left for Newcastle United in 2023 for €58.9m. Sources close to the club report that a departure of Reijnders is only negotiable if an offer of at least €71m lands.

Manchester City hopes to regain their status as one of Europe’s leading sides through smart signings after a difficult season in which the team suffered several defeats, leaving their Champions League place for next season still in doubt.
Guardiola recently indicated that he wants to expand his squad with players who are physically capable of performing at the highest level twice a week.
The imminent departure of Kevin De Bruyne and the injury-proneness of Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan – who will turn 35 next season – makes the search for new midfielders urgent.
In addition to Reijnders, Morgan Gibbs-White and Florian Wirtz from Nottingham Forest and Bayer Leverkusen respectively are also on the radar of the English top club, with a “verbal agreement” struck for the Germany international.
