OFFICIAL: Liverpool complete signing of Jeremie Frimpong

Liverpool have officially completed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong after triggering his €35 million (£29.5m) release clause.
The Netherlands international has signed a five-year contract at Anfield, valid until 2030, and he is expected to become their new starting right-back following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid.
Frimpong has established himself as one of the world’s best wing-backs during his time at Bayer Leverkusen, notching over 60 goal contributions in 190 appearances for the Bundesliga side following his arrival from Celtic back in January 2021.
The 24-year-old was a pivotal player for Xabi Alonso’s side as they won the German domestic double last campaign and his ability to play in any role on the right flank is seen as a key trait by the Liverpool hierarchy.
Frimpong will compete with Conor Bradley for a starting berth at right-back under Arne Slot next campaign, while he may also deputise for Mohamed Salah as a right winger on occasion.
Jeremie Frimpong joins Liverpool
Frimpong, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €55m, spent nine years in Manchester City’s academy before joining Celtic for a fee of €380k in 2019.
He racked up 51 first-team appearances for the Scottish giants, and helped them win their seventh domestic treble, before moving to Bayer Leverkusen after just 18 months at Celtic Park.

In addition to Frimpong, Liverpool are also set to complete the signing of teammate Florian Wirtz in a blockbuster club-record deal. Earlier on Friday, the Reds made an improved €130m second bid for the Germany international.
Moreover, Liverpool are in talks with Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez to provide significant competition for Andrew Robertson if he completes a move to Anfield.
