Wirtz, 22, has informed Leverkusen of his desire to secure an Anfield switch this summer, despite heavy interest from Bayern Munich, and Arne Slot’s side are pushing to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga outfit.

The Reds reportedly lodged an initial bid in excess of €100m at the start of the week and The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now confirmed that an offer of €130m has been submitted by Liverpool.

That figure includes both a guaranteed transfer fee and possible add-ons, and would see Wirtz usurp Enzo Fernandez (€121m to Chelsea) as the most expensive signing in Premier League history.

Wirtz has two years remaining on his current contract at Bayer Leverkusen and he is eager to join Liverpool following their Premier League triumph in May.

The Germany international registered 16 goals and 15 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions last season, and he is expected to join Liverpool before the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

Jeremie Frimpong is also set to move from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool this summer, with the Netherlands international due to arrive as the Reds’ replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Florian Wirtz to Liverpool?

Wirtz has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Real Madrid in recent months, however he has chosen to join Liverpool, and the Reds are pushing to finalise a deal with Bayer Leverkusen.

The Germany international has established himself as one of the world's best players over the past few years and a move to Anfield now looks increasingly likely as Slot prepares for his second season in charge of the club.

Wirtz has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €116.4m - the 11th highest of any player in the world - and he is expected to provide immense attacking creativity if his proposed move to Liverpool goes through.
