Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr is up at the end of June and following the Saudi Pro League clash against Al-Khaleej he seemed to bid the fans a tearful goodbye.

Although the five-time Ballon d’Or winner still has one game remaining to play for his current side, Infantino has announced that the Portuguese could take advantage of a special transfer window at the beginning of June to complete a move.

Speaking with IShowSpeed, Infantino was discussing Lionel Messi’s participation in the tournament when he dropped an unexpected bomb.

“And Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup,” the FIFA president said.

“There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup... who knows, who knows.”

Who will Cristiano Ronaldo sign for?

Ronaldo has been linked with several clubs competing the FIFA Club World Cup, but the hottest current track is Wydad Casablanca.

Reports indicate that a Spanish businessman is fronting a bid to have CR7 sign for the Moroccan side to feature in the competition.

Brazilian clubs have also been linked with an unlikely bid for the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend, with Marca reporting the possibility of a deal with Botafogo.

Christmas is only in December. But if he came, you can't say no to a star like that.
- Botafogo coach Renato Paiva

The club’s coach Renato Paiva laughed off the suggestion, stating: "Christmas is only in December. But if he came, you can't say no to a star like that.

"I don't know anything - I'm just answering the question. But, as I said, coaches always want the best. Ronaldo, even at his age, is still a goal-scoring machine. In a team that creates chance after chance, he would be good."

Ronaldo has previously indicated that he would like to return to Sporting CP, but they have not qualified for the Club World Cup.
