Joao Pedro to Chelsea: €60m offer prepared as Brighton talks 'intensify'

Chelsea have prepared a €60 million offer for Brighton & Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro, with talks set to “intensify” next week ahead of a possible move this summer.
The Brazil international is reportedly set to leave Fabian Hurzeler’s side once the 2024-25 campaign draws to a close and Chelsea are battling for his signature amid competition from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Blues are set to sell both Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku on permanent deals this summer, and they have identified Pedro as a key transfer target as they look to improve the forward options at Enzo Maresca’s disposal.
Brazilian outlet Globo have revealed that Chelsea have already initiated discussions with Brighton over a possible summer move for Pedro, with the west London giants preparing a €60m bid for the 23-year-old.
The Blues are reportedly eager to finalise a deal before the start of the Club World Cup on 15 June, while talks will “intensify” after Chelsea’s final game of the season - the Europa Conference League final - next Wednesday.
Pedro, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €61.3m, has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions so far this campaign, and Chelsea are hoping to speed up negotiations in order to win the race for his signature this summer.
Joao Pedro to miss Brighton’s final match of the season
News of Pedro’s imminent Brighton exit comes after he was involved in a training ground altercation with Seagulls team-mate Jan Paul van Hecke.
The Brazilian was omitted from Brighton’s matchday squad to face Liverpool on Monday evening as a result of the incident, while Hurzeler has confirmed that Pedro will not be reinstated against Tottenham Hotspur.

“Joao won’t be in the squad,” Hurzeler told reporters during his pre-match press conference.
“With Joao we had a small issue in training, the type that isn’t uncommon from time to time at all clubs. It has been dealt with internally and the matter is closed.”
The Brighton boss added: “He is an incredible footballer, that’s why we invested in him, but there are principles that are non-negotiable where we don’t make any compromises. He is still a young player. He will learn from this and can continue to grow.”
