Chelsea eye Ethan Nwaneri deal amid Arsenal 'concerns'

Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs keeping close tabs on Ethan Nwaneri’s contractual situation at Arsenal as they eye an ambitious summer deal for the England U21 international.

Nwaneri, 18, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at the Emirates Stadium, registering 11 goal contributions in 36 first-team games for the Gunners amid an injury crisis in north London.

The teenager has only mustered nine minutes of action from a possible 540 since late April, however, following Bukayo Saka’s return to full fitness, and TBR Football have now claimed that his camp have “concerns” about his immediate future at Arsenal.

The Hale End academy graduate is regarded as one of the best youngsters in English football, but he is reportedly worried by Arsenal’s pursuit of additional attacking talent this summer.

The Gunners are pushing to sign Athletic Club winger Nico Williams ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, while they are also set to add at least one new centre forward, with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres their current priority.

Nwaneri’s current deal is due to expire next summer and TBR Football state that Arsenal’s development plan hasn’t convinced his representatives.

Premier League giants Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are all monitoring Nwaneri’s situation, with the former chasing a deal for yet another talented youngster amid their new transfer policy under Clearlake Capital.

Meanwhile, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are also reportedly interested in signing Nwaneri if the opportunity arises this summer.

However, FootballTransfers understands that Nwaneri and fellow youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly are in fact set to sign new long-term contracts at Arsenal very shortly.

The pair were expected to pen fresh terms in March, but this was delayed due to Arsenal’s run to the Champions League semi-finals.

We have also been informed that Bukayo Saka will sign a new Arsenal deal this summer to keep him at the club beyond 2027.
