Mikel Arteta gives green light to €100m Arsenal transfer

Mikel Arteta would love to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo, but a deal will be difficult to pull off, according to a report.
The Brazilian superstar has had to deal with plenty of speculation in recent weeks. Rodrygo is currently nursing an injury, and his absence has given rise to persistent transfer speculation.
Prior to his injury, his performances had left a lot to be desired, and this reportedly saw club chiefs at Real Madrid turn on him. Rodrygo, it has been claimed, could be sold this summer to fund Los Blancos' rebuild under Xabi Alonso.
The forward bit back in a social media post earlier this week, but this hasn't stopped the rumours linking him with a move away, chiefly to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old is known to have admirers in England, with FootballTransfers reporting last summer that Man City had enquired about him. More recently, Arsenal have been frequently associated with a potential move for the skilful attacker.
Arteta a fan of Rodrygo
According to The Athletic, the Arsenal rumours aren't entirely baseless, although this doesn't mean that a transfer will materialise. The report states that Mikel Arteta is an admirer of Rodrygo.
However, it is acknowledged that a move would be difficult to realise this summer. The 'financial parameters' of a transfer to the Emirates would be 'challenging.'

Rodrygo currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €106.9 million. Last September, his ETV peaked at a whopping €112.4m, meaning that he would cost at least €100m this summer, especially since he still has a contract until 2028 at Real Madrid.
With Arsenal keen to strengthen in a host of positions - an undertaking that will also require some sales beforehand - it would be surprising to see the Gunners spend in excess of €100m on any one player this summer, while the Brazilian's wages also wouldn't be easy to shoulder.
Arteta would jump at the chance to sign Rodrygo, but a transfer this summer is seemingly unrealistic as things stand.
