Man Utd Awards 2023-24: Best & worst player, best & worst transfer, top scorer

With the 2023-24 season coming to a close in the next weeks, awards season is now upon us.

Who have been the best and worst players in their leagues and for their respective clubs? What about the best youngsters, the best and worst transfers, and the top scorers?

FootballTransfers runs down all the major clubs in Europe and chooses our best and worst for each category.

Here, we look at Man Utd.

Man Utd Player of the Season

There is not much competition for this award, but there can be little doubt that Bruno Fernandes has once again been Man Utd’s Player of the Season for 2023-24.

He has managed an impressive 26 goal contributions in all competitions, 15 of them goals and 11 assists. Bruno has the winning mentality and the quality so lacking in most of his colleagues.

Man Utd Flop of the Season

There are numerous Man Utd players who could have won this unwanted award, with countless flops.

But none have been as disastrous as Antony. Signed for €100m in 2022, the Brazilian has been horrific from start to finish. He has just one goal and one assist in the Premier League and has been a constant figure of fun.

Man Utd top scorer

Bruno Fernandes is Man Utd’s top scorer, at the time of writing, with 15 goals in all competitions. He also has top scored in the Premier League with 10 goals.

Man Utd Best Transfer

Almost all of Man Utd’s transfers for 2023-24 have been a disappointment, with the exception of Rasmus Hojlund, who joined from Atalanta last summer for €85m.

His first half of the season was very poor, but he has improved massively in 2024 and has a respectable 14 goals in all competitions. There is no doubt about his quality and potential, and he should improve more from next season.

Man Utd Worst Transfer

So many to choose from but Mason Mount has been the worst of the bunch.

Signed for a fee in excess of €70m, Mount has managed a dismal one goal and one assist in all competitions.

He has struggled with injuries and has been unable to coexist in the same team as Bruno Fernandes. His future is already in doubt after one season.

Man Utd Best Youngster

Kobbie Mainoo has been one of the few bright spots of a dismal 2023-24 season for Man Utd.

The young central midfielder has broken into the first team in 2024 and looks like a big talent for the future, even getting his first England cap in March.
