The La Liga giants, who already have made moves for Kylian Mbappe and Alphonso Davies, are wanting to bolster the right-side of defence and see the Englishman as an ideal fit.

Revelo reports that Madrid are monitoring the situation of the player whose contract ends in June 2025. The club are hoping to apply the pressure on the Reds, given that Alexander-Arnold is approaching the final year of his deal and so far, it is believed, no talks are underway over a possible renewal at Anfield.

Several clubs in Europe are admirers of the England international but none have yet spoken to the player’s side nor Liverpool.

It’s believed that Alexander-Arnold’s versatility is of huge value, while there is a need to replace the aging Dani Carvajal, who will be 33 years old by next year.

What did Jurgen Klopp say about Trent Alexander-Arnold?

Jurgen Klopp praised the defenders’ ability to play in the middle of the park recently, saying via TNT Sports: "I give him a lot more freedom. There are many benefits of playing in the middle. He can take charge of the game there alongside [Alexis] MacAllister or whoever is there.

"As a team we were not prepared in the past and Trent wasn't ready. Last year we thought at a bad time for us it was time to change something big and we did it and it worked. Trent enjoys it. I think he's pretty happy with the position and how he can interpret it. I'm very happy with it.
