Manchester United are interested in Tijjani Reijnders, with head coach Erik ten Hag making the AC Milan midfielder a top target for the upcoming transfer window, FootballTransfers can reveal.

The versatile midfielder was acquired for €19m from Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar just last summer by the Serie A giants, but sources have indicated that his short time in Italy will not deter Man Utd from offering a package.

The 25-year-old, who can play in various positions, including defensive midfielder, central midfield, and a No.10, is being targeted not only for his versatility but the fact he can bring the squad’s age down, particularly in the midfield. With players like Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat, and Christian Eriksen either nearing the end of their careers or facing uncertain futures, and promising talent Kobbie Mainoo at just 18 years old needing gradual integration into the first team, it’s thought Reijnders would be invaluable to Ten Hag.

However, sources suggest that AC Milan's hierarchy will not entertain offers below €60 million for Reijnder, owing to his glowing form at Milan this campaign and the fact his contract runs until 2028.

Who else is targeting Tijjani Reijnders?

Man Utd may face competition by the way of Paris Saint-Germain, who are also eyeing Reijnders to strengthen their midfield in the summer, we are told. The Ligue 1 champions are looking to overhaul their squad ahead of the following season, with Kylian Mbappe’s imminent departure set to free up funds for the club.

Reijnders developed in his hometown at WVF Zwolle before joining PEC Zwolle in 2007. After a four-year stint with FC Twente, he returned to PEC Zwolle in 2011.

His impressive displays earned him a move to AZ Alkmaar, before heading to Milan in July.
