Mohammed Kudus was the subject of a summer transfer saga during the most recent window, with several top clubs in England chasing his signature.

In the end, West Ham United won the race to sign him, with the Hammers beating Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton to bring Kudus to the London Stadium.

All of those teams were extremely interested in landing the Ajax man this summer, before West Ham emerged from nowhere and reached an agreement with the Eredivisie side.

Four months after his move to the Premier League, it’s fair to say that every team who failed in their pursuit of Kudus are now regretting their inability to seal a deal.

The Ghana international netted a brilliant brace against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday to increase his goals tally for David Moyes’ side to eight. Kudus also bagged four goals for Ajax this campaign before he left the Netherlands for east London.

He has been an excellent addition for West Ham and has formed a brilliant attacking trio with Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen.

Kudus’ left-foot is deadly when he cuts inside from the right flank, and his versatility has seen him share minutes as a right-winger, an attacking midfielder and a centre-forward.

Most of his game time has come from the right wing, however, with Moyes evidently viewing the Ghanaian as most-threatening in that role.

Big clubs regretting Kudus failure

Kudus’ form this campaign has shown that every big club was foolish to allow West Ham to sign him for €43 million this summer.

Man Utd spent over double that fee on his former Ajax team-mate Antony in 2022, and the Brazilian hasn't scored a competitive goal since April, while Chelsea’s attacking woes could have been aided by the presence of Kudus.

Arsenal have been brilliant once again this campaign, but Kudus’ ability to play across the forward line would’ve been a very useful asset as Mikel Arteta juggles the Gunners’ Premier League title charge with a first Champions League campaign since 2016-17.

And Kudus would've made a massive difference for Brighton given Roberto De Zerbi’s relatively small squad.
