The 2023 summer transfer window has been shut for over a month now and every club in world football will already be thinking about what business to conduct in January.

That will certainly be the case for the Premier League, with millions more expected to be spent during the winter window.

England clubs spent ludicrous sums yet again this summer, with both Arsenal (Declan Rice) and Chelsea (Moises Caicedo) spending over €100 million on a single player.

With the January window looming, however, clubs will be beginning to think about departures as well as exits, and there are several stars who could find themselves pushed towards the exit door.

Furthermore, there are other players who may pursue a transfer away themselves as they look for a new adventure.

Jadon Sancho - Man Utd

Jadon Sancho looks all but certain to leave Manchester United in January, with Erik ten Hag exiling the Englishman from first-team training.

A return to Borussia Dortmund has been touted, while Juventus are also reportedly interested. A move to Saudi Arabia could also be on the cards if Sancho would be willing to give up European football already.

Trevoh Chalobah - Chelsea

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that both Trevoh Chalobah and Chelsea expect the defender to leave the club in January.

He is currently injured, but the summer arrival of Axel Disasi and return of Levi Colwill from loan mean Chalobah is quite far down the centre-back pecking order and a transfer away is very likely. Bayern Munich remain interested after failing in their pursuit this summer.

Emile Smith Rowe - Arsenal

Newcastle United are interested in signing Emile Smith Rowe in January, as per The Mirror, as the Englishman continues to be out of favour at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta has preferred Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Fabio Vieira in the advanced midfield positions this season and Smith Rowe’s career has stalled to the point where he needs to leave.

Giovani Lo Celso - Tottenham

Giovani Lo Celso has not played a single minute of action for Tottenham this season. The Argentine was expected to leave the club this summer - with both Lazio and Napoli interested - but a move never materialised.

With Ange Postecoglou favouring other options, Lo Celso will surely leave Tottenham in January as they search to offload his wages.

Ivan Toney - Brentford

Brentford would most likely want to reintegrate Ivan Toney into the starting XI following his betting ban, but the former Peterborough forward has no such plans.

He has stressed his desire to leave the club in January and Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Tottenham have all expressed interest in signing him. A move to Arsenal looks the most likely right now.

Kalvin Phillips - Man City

Kalvin Phillips’ move to Man City has been a disaster. The England international may have won a historic treble during his debut season at the club, but he played a bit-part role and is clearly now trusted by Pep Guardiola.

His place in England’s European Championship squad and starting XI next summer may rely on game time and therefore Philips is reportedly contemplating leaving City in January.

Mohamed Salah - Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has been keen to stress that Mohamed Salah will not be leaving Liverpool during the January window and his start to the new Premier League season proves he is still good enough at the highest level.

However, Saudi Pro League sides are set to return for his signature in January and are seemingly willing to spend a lot of money to convince Salah to leave Anfield.
