VAR was the major talking point in the Premier League fixtures on Saturday after Liverpool had a goal wrongly disallowed when the officials in the booth failed to tell the on-field referee that Luis Diaz was incorrectly called offside in the lead-up to what would have been an equaliser in their 2-1 loss at Tottenham.

PGMOL were quick to admit human error, with Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville revealing that the match officials “knew straight away” of their mistake.

All this has rather overshadowed the fact that Mohamed Salah's agent has admitted the Egypt international has thought about leaving the club.

Manchester United were beaten 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace in what was a disappointing day for many of the Premier League’s biggest sides. But while Manchester City and Liverpool went down to defeats, the Red Devils have made their worst start in more than 30 years.

Manager Erik ten Hag is under pressure and is faced with an increased prospect of being sacked already.

He’s not been well supported by some of his players, meanwhile, with Marcus Rashford, in particular, having had a sluggish start to the season.

Speaking of the sack, Jose Mourinho is under pressure at Roma. The Portuguese has already made more than €100 million in compensation payments during his career and could net another staggering fee if he loses another job.

Chelsea’s January target

Chelsea’s turmoil goes on, and though the Blues will need to wait until Monday before returning to Premier League action, there is ongoing speculation of what Mauricio Pochettino’s plans are in the transfer window. The Argentine has said he will sign players, and it has now been revealed exactly what his priority is.

Nico Williams is one of the hottest properties in the game right now, with a string of Premier League clubs lining up to sign the Athletic Club star. Barcelona, too, are considering the prospect of signing him as a free agent at the end of the season.

Real Madrid, though, are ready to blow away the opposition and make a decisive move for the 21-year-old Spain international during the January transfer window.

Newcastle ready to go all in on Osimhen

Newcastle are ready to launch an unlikely January transfer bid for unsettled Napoli striker Victor Osimhen – and they are ready to use Alexander Isak in a part-exchange deal.
