Manchester United have reportedly turned down an approach from Borussia Dortmund to re-sign Jadon Sancho on loan.

The England winger has flattered to deceive during his two-year spell at Old Trafford, having moved from Dortmund for £73m (€85m).

And it seems like a strong possibility that the former Manchester City youngster – who joined BVB back in 2017 at the age of 17 – will be playing his club football elsewhere next season.

However, according to the Daily Star, United are prepared to entertain offers to sign Sancho on a permanent basis, as they look to reshape their squad in readiness for their return to the Champions League in 2023/24.

It rather goes without saying that the 13-time Premier League champions should expect to take a hefty loss if they do sell the 23-year-old – who our in-house Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) model currently rates at €55.4m (£47.5m).

Indeed, it’s been said that a fee of around £45m (€52m) could be enough to seal a deal for Sancho – who has made 79 appearances for Man Utd, scoring 12 goals.

Ten Hag's hint?

Despite Sancho’s struggles, Erik ten Hag was impressed with his development during the 2022/23 campaign – of which he missed a significant chunk in the middle due to fitness issues. The United manager told the club’s official website in May:

“I think Jadon Sancho was one of the players who [has made good] progress in this season. And there were many players in our squad who made good progress. I think it's a good base to build further on.

“He can do both [wings], but I think he prefers to play on the left. But we have seen [that] he is very good on the right as well.”
