EXCLUSIVE: Tom Davies set for showdown talks with Everton

Tom Davies will head into crunch talks with Everton over his future and it’s FootballTransfers' understanding there is already interest from rival clubs in purchasing the midfielder.

The Englishman, who is out of contract later this month, has been offered fresh terms by his boyhood club but may turn it down in search of game time. It is not clear what the next step will be at this point regarding Davies’ future at the club, but he does have interest from clubs from the Championship and Premier League.

At this stage, the general feeling is that he will leave this month. Everton could find a middle ground with the player, offering a contract that guarantees a suitable amount of appearances for the next campaign. He has only made substitute appearances under Sean Dyche after struggling with injury.

Davies is an academy graduate of Everton, having joined the club at the age of 11. He has played 179 times for the club, but last season might have been his last.

It comes after the club’s pursuit of Mainz left-back received a slight bump in the road after the player received proposals from clubs in Germany and Spain, with it thought his head may have been turned after positive talks with Everton.

Meanwhile, Everton have offered a contract extension to the third-choice goalkeeper, Andy Lonergan. Asmir Begovichas left. Andros Townsend and Yerry Mina have departed, too. The pair were not offered new deals., however. Teenage midfielder Isaac Price is joining Standard Liege after turning down a new contract.

Kevin Thelwell, Everton’s director of football, said: “We wish all of them the best with the next chapters in their careers. We have also offered new contracts to players and we will continue talking with them as we look to build a competitive squad for Sean Dyche and his staff.”
