Victor Osimhen has had an excellent first portion of the season with Napoli and is Serie A’s top scorer this season, showing why so many clubs are interested in him.

Over the course of the summer and the start of this season, Osimhen has been a target for many clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal, but he has remained at Napoli.

He has been a key part of this Napoli side which sits top of Serie A and are in a strong position to go all the way and win the league title.

However, there is a new club interested in him – Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool – and they are willing to battle it out for his signature in upcoming transfer windows.

Liverpool enter Osimhen race

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are willing to go head-to-head with Manchester United for the signing of Osimhen in the near future.

Having been put up for sale by Fenway Sports Group earlier in the week, there could be a spending spree in January as they look to strengthen the team before they go.

Osimhen won’t come in cheap, however, and it’s believed that Napoli will want upwards of €100 million for him, having spent big to get him from Lille back in 2019.

Back in the summer, it was reported Manchester United wanted him and were trying to facilitate a swap between the Nigerian forward and Cristiano Ronaldo, but that never materialized.

It’s clear to see why clubs want him: despite missing a month of this campaign, he sits on top of the Serie A scoring charts and his value will only rise if he can carry this form forward and spearhead Napoli’s title charge.

Napoli are known to be tough negotiators and will hold their position to get the biggest possible fee in the event of a future sale.
