Why Chelsea have been given a major Trossard boost

Chelsea’s hopes of landing midfielder Leandro Trossard have been given a major boost by the Brighton player.
Rumours have suggested that the 27-year-old could follow manager Graham Potter to Stamford Bridge, with the Belgium international having been linked with a possible move in the summer.
Trossard, who is valued by FootballTransfers at €17 million, has spoken out on the possibility of completing a transfer to team up with his former manager. While he is positive about the idea, he is not prepared to move at all costs.

Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad, he said: “Our manager has gone to Chelsea now, but the speculation about me following him is nonsense. If the opportunity arises, I want to go. But I want to play and not sit on the bench.
“I feel very good. We had a super good start with Brighton. I have developed a lot. Now I know how the Premier League works. I have grown enormously in that. Confidence, mentally, physically...”
Chelsea have already been frustrated in the transfer market this summer by one player who did not want to join them for fear of a lack of game time. Lens defender Jonathan Clauss turned down the prospect of moving to the Blues and instead picked Marseille simply because he felt he had a better chance of starting.
Trossard’s case is similar in that he has been a relatively late developer in the game, only coming to the fore in his mid-20s with Brighton. He has since established himself as a strong Premier League performer on the left of the park. Already this season, he has two goals and two assists to his credit in six league matches.
Brighton’s challenge now will be maintaining that form after the loss of Potter, who hopes to transfer his magic formula successfully to Chelsea.
