Bukayo Saka’s contract with Arsenal is up in 2024, leading to speculation that Manchester City may make a swoop for the young England attacker either during this transfer window or next, but as CBS reporter Ben Jacobs writes for FootballTransfers, the Gunners are confident they can retain one of the Premier League’s most rapidly rising stars.

Saka is untouchable as far as Arsenal are concerned. They’re confident of a new contract being signed.

What that does, is that it protects any future value for the player. That’s really important because if they don’t want to sell him now but they accept a Manchester City might come in the future, you at least protect the fee and you keep the player at the football club in the short term.

But Arsenal feel that Saka will sign and is very happy at the football club at the moment.

William Saliba transfer latest

With William Saliba, it’s interesting. Arteta’s talking very highly of him and would like to keep him at the club as well. It’s all about creating an environment for the player where he thinks he can grow at Arsenal and is prepared to stay at the football club because he really enjoyed his time at Marseille, where he did very well.

Marseille changed managers, and then Saliba and OM couldn’t agree a deal with Arsenal to sign.

There’s still a long period of the window left and there’s still a lot of interest in Saliba but Arteta’s interest to keep him at Arsenal football club and integrate him into the team is genuine. It’s more likely that he stays than goes but there will be interest in him because he did so well at Marseille. It wouldn’t surprise me that as the window comes closer to closing that Marseille come back in for him.

But Arsenal’s priority to keep Saliba if they possibly can, and all they have to do to keep him at the football club is to convince the player that he has both a short-term and a long-term role at the football club that is going to get more integral by the game and by the season.
