Chelsea fans were forced to confront the possibility of their worst nightmare on Tuesday, when reports from England stated that club owner Roman Abramovich was willing to consider offers for the club.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the Russian billionaire will receive bids to sell the Premier League side this week, with at least three parties interested in bidding for Chelsea as soon as possible.

The English outlet understands that such offers are already being prepared and will be presented to the Chelsea owner before the end of the week.

Such news was undoubtedly met with strong opinions from Chelsea fans, who have enjoyed an unprecedented level of success since Abramovich bought the Stamford Bridge side in 2003.

Fans react to news of Abramovich selling Chelsea

There’s no doubt that most Chelsea fans were hugely concerned at the possibility of Abrahamovich selling the club as quickly as possible, due to the fact that alongside his wealth helping the side win titles, the Russian billionaire also showed an immense love for the club too.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “We are finished if we get an owner who doesn’t love the game we are actually finished” while another one stated that from a sporting perspective they would be “absolutely” devastated” if the club was sold.

Other fans were in a more accepting mood and instead went out of their way to thank the Russian businessman for what he had brought to Chelsea. One fan wrote: “I will forever be grateful and respectful to Roman Abramovich for what he has done for Chelsea football club.”

While another one fittingly pointed out that even if the club owner was forced to move on, the Chelsea fans would still be there as always.

Of course, rival fans didn’t waste any time jumping on the news. One Inter fan urged the Russian billionaire to buy his club after selling Chelsea, while one Man Utd fan lamented that his club couldn’t even sell Anthony Martial, never mind an entire club.
