Tottenham have officially announced Antonio Conte as their new manager after the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Spurs confirmed the news on Tuesday, with Conte signing a contract until 2023 - with the option to extend further.

The Italian was approached by Spurs in the summer but rejected the offer, prompting a wild hunt for a new manager that ended with Espirito Santo being appointed.

Tottenham are languishing in eighth place after a 3-0 thumping at home against Manchester United, leading to Nuno’s removal as manager on Monday.

Conte’s last job brought him great success as he steered Inter to a first Serie A crown since 2010 but differences with the board led to his departure before he had a chance to defend the title.

Tottenham have not won the league title in 60 years and have lifted just two League Cups in the last three decades. Conte will hope to immediately bring success.

The 52-year-old has experience in turning projects around in London, taking Chelsea from a 10th place finish in the 2015-16 season to a Premier League title with 95 points in his first year at the club.

Conte has won everywhere he's been - can he do it at Tottenham?

Conte also added an FA Cup to the trophy cabinet at Stamford Bridge in a two-year stint with the Blues, and previously won three consecutive Serie A titles with Juventus between 2012 and 2014.

Spurs have lost five of their last seven matches in the league and have a goal difference of -7, having scored just nine goals in 10 games so far.

After a disappointing end to last season saw Jose Mourinho sacked in April, Spurs are only in the Europa Conference League this season, but have been poor in that tournament as well with just one win in the first three group matches.

Conte becomes Tottenham’s third manager in seven months, and Spurs will hope to have him arrive before their next Premier League match against Everton on Sunday.
