Chelsea have spent over €1 billion since Todd Boehly became the club's owner in 2022 and the Blues have given long contracts to every single new signing.
Enzo Fernandez was signed for a British record fee of €121 million during the 2023 January transfer window, while they exceeded the €100m mark yet again with the purchase of Moises Caicedo from Brighton just a few months later.
The Blues have proven their ability to attract top players since before Boehly, with Roman Abramovich's 19-year era at the club a glittering one indeed, but they haven't always been able to keep their players around on their own terms.

In 2022, Antonio Rudiger left on a free transfer for Real Madrid while Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso headed for the other side of the Clasico divide, joining Barcelona, also free of charge.
Boehly has a "Vision 2020" philosophy for the club, and that strategy has relied on signing young players on long-term contracts having found a loophole in FFP regulations. Now, Chelsea have a roster of players with their future at the club secure.
