Roy Keane has launched a sensational attack on Gareth Southgate’s decision to include Jordan Henderson in his England squad for Euro 2020.

Henderson was named in Southgate’s 26-man squad for the European Championship finals despite having not played a game of football since February 20.

The 30-year-old suffered a groin and pelvis injury during the Merseyside derby and has not featured for club or country in over three months since.

He was named on the bench for Liverpool’s final game of the season and was expected to get some time on the pitch during England’s friendly win over Austria in midweek.

However, after feeling a twinge in training, Southgate opted not to risk the midfielder.

Henderson is, however, set to come on during England’s final friendly before the Euros on Sunday against Romania.

Keane slams inclusion of Henderson

Nevertheless, the notoriously outspoken Roy Keane is not impressed with Henderson’s involvement in the squad.

“Clearly Jordan's not fit. I don't think he should be involved. He’s not kicked a ball for three-and-a-half months and then going into the European Championship, he can’t be right,” Keane said as a pundit for ITV ahead of England’s match against Romania on Sunday.

“I see people say they want him around the place. For what? Does he do card tricks? Does he do a sing-song? Does he do quizzes in the evening? What does he do?

“And if you are Liverpool you can’t be happy, either.”

Southgate himself confirmed ahead of the game that Henderson will get 45 minutes against Romania.

Henderson is not the only injured England player going into the Euros, with Harry Maguire coming back from a troublesome ankle injury and also in doubt for the Euros opener versus Croatia next week.
