Paris Saint-Germain have rejected an offer to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt in order to pursue Milan Skriniar this summer.

The Parisians have reportedly been handed a chance to acquire De Ligt by his agent Rafaela Pimenta, but have said no to such a move due to their belief that Skriniar will arrive.

The Inter Milan defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Parc des princes, with the club placing him right at the top of their summer wish-list. And, according to Get French Football News, they are so confident in concluding a deal for Skriniar that they have rejected the chance to sign De Ligt.

Reports in France say Skriniar has agreed personal terms with PSG and is simply waiting on the two clubs to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.

The Slovakian international's current deal at San Siro is set to expire next summer, meaning the Italian giants are required to sell him this transfer window or lose him for free next year.

As a result, PSG are pushing for a move to go through, same in the knowledge that Inter would be willing to sell at the right price.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions have begun a new era under the stewardship of sporting advisor Luis Campos and are set to make several changes over the coming weeks.

The club are reportedly set to abandon their policy of signing superstars and are willing to sell world-record signing Neymar as they set about altering their footballing vision.

Vitinha has arrived for €40 million, while it's believed that Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca is close to joining for around €50m.

PSG won't sign De Ligt

Chelsea have led the race for De Ligt for a considerable amount of time, with the Blues making him their number one defensive target as they look to replace both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

However, Sky Germany have now reported that De Ligt has opened talks with Bayern Munich and has been so impressed by their proposal that he now wants to join the Bavarian outfit.

Bayern have lost Niklas Sule to Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer and are reportedly set to make De Ligt the leader of their backline should he join.
